The NX2 Nexus Race SW will not work with a NMEA protocol.
What is FDX
The
Fast
Data eXchange,
is the protocol that allows the Windows OS PC/Laptop to
become a fully integrated NX2 instrument when connected to the
NX2 FDX Server via the DB9 port, or
to the Garmin GND10 converter via the USB port.
The NX2 Sail performance software is free for download, bring your PC onboard & use all capabilities
that the Garmin/NX2 systems can offer!
The Nexus Race SW enables you to monitor all data in analogue or digital format, create waypoints and routes, logging all data, remotely control all Nexus NX2/NXR digital & analog displays, and calibrate the Nexus sensors with full Nexus/NX2 system setup.
The Nexus Race SW does not control or calibrates any of the Garmin Displays and Sensors

Connect your PC direct to the
NX2 FDX Server
PC port that normally is operating in NMEA0183 mode, when the
Nexus Race SW is started, the Server will automatically
switch over to FDX mode
to be fully integrated with the NX2 system.

The same time the Nexus Race SW is running with a GPS unit connected to the NX2 system all Navigational Information not only may viewed with the Sail performance but they may be send to an additional Charting Program via the Virtual Com port (NMEA) internal out-put.
Note:
Navigation from a PC NMEA SW is only possible for Servers of
version 5.3 or later
The
virtual port will only run on Windows XP SP3 & Windows 7.
The Nexus Race SW implements boat Polars via the *.nxp file, after installing the software go to the Nexus Race folder, C:\Program files\Nexus Race\Data\polar folder on your PC, open the *.nxp file and using the matrix insert your polar tables, then you may display your TBS at any Multi Display using the FDX Nexus Race SW.
If you have your Polars in Paper we may convert them to the *.nxp Polar file for you,

The nexus Race Software was not installable on Windows 7 until I set the Compatibility Mode on the compatibility tab to Windows XP SP3. The installer originally complained about the operating system and refused the installation. After the settings on the compatibility tab (Right mouse on the installer->Properties) it works fine.
